In the Wake of the Difficult Armistice of Altmark. Extraordinary Sejm in Warsaw. 1629.

The Sejm was convoked in October 1629. Pre-Sejm Sejmiks were held in the same month, and in November 1629. Sessions opened on November 13th 1629. Legal Secretary of Lithuania Stefan Pac was elected Speaker. Following a tempestuous discussion associated with unfavourable decisions (leaving all harbours east of Gdańsk – Livonia to River Dźwina – to the Swedes; levying additional customs duties on Prussian harbours; and sequestering Malbork, Sztum, and Głowa for George William, Elector of Brandenburg, as guarantor) the Armistice entered into in Altmark with the Swedes on September 26th 1629 was ratified; the armistice suspended all military action in Prussia, in progress since 1626. Considerable attention was also paid to the Radom and Vilnius Tribunals. The Sejm concluded on November 28th 1629.
