First Sejm of King Stanisław August Poniatowski. Ordinary Sejm in Warsaw. 1766 r.

The Sejm was convened in June, while the pre-sejm sejmiks were held in August 1766. The proceedings began on 6 October 1766. The Speaker of the Parliament was elected Celestyn Czaplica, the Chamberlain of of Łuck. During the Sejm, the royal court tried to carry out fiscal reforms, which were to be voted by a majority of votes. However, they were sabotaged by Russian and Prussian intrigues, influencing the behaviour of parliamentary groups. Religious matters, which were used by foreign courts as an instrument for conflicting society, gained significant importance. The Sejm concluded its proceedings on 29 November 1766.
